On December 13, 2017, the world of heavy metal lost one of the most iconic and remarkable voices of all time.
Warrel George Baker, better known as Warrel Dane, left us forever.
His definitive work, “Shadow Work”, was released posthumously thanks to the efforts of everyone involved, recovering parts of his voice recorded from demos.
Unfortunately, even using all possible resources, there are still songs that were never born.
Until now.
The Shadow Work Project was born with the mission of closing the final chapter of Warrel Dane’s entire legal career.
Fabio Carito, Johnny Moraes and Marcus Dotta, three of the members of his solo band, revisited these lost songs. Together, they decided to recruit incredible musicians and the only prerequisite was that they somehow had a connection with Warrel throughout his life. Everyone respect the short involvement Warrel had in these songs, where he only had time to create the song titles and a few parts of the lyrics.
Henning Basse (Metalium/Firewind), Bill Hudson (I am Morbid/Doro/Northtale) and Steve Smyth (Nevermore/Testament/Forbidden) joined the team and helped bring 3 of the 5 remaining songs to life. On the artistic side, they called in Travis Smith (Nevermore/Sanctuary/many others) to recreate the visual identity that Warrel has always admired.
This is the final chapter, and the band want the world to have the opportunity to get to know the other side of “Shadow Work”: the side that never saw the light of day.
